India

Introduction:

If you are looking for an experience of a lifetime and see earthy beauty as you’ve never seen it before, then you’ll want to plan a vacation to India. Think of India as a classic canvas painting, dotted with captivating attractions and diversity – that’s India for you. India is naturally a very diverse area, you’ll find world-class architecture, ancient temples, beautiful beaches and rivers, delicious food and authentic crafts.

Beaches:

Every year, thousands of pasty-white tourists head to India resorts because it has some of the most diverse types of beaches anywhere in the entire world. In India you’ll find lagoons and placid backwaters, bays and even rough lava-rocked seas.

Make sure you check out an India all inclusive resort in Goa – one of the most popular tourist destinations. Goa is also referred to as “the pearl of the east’ and is probably best known for it’s beautiful beaches. There are also many Gothic churches and ruins in Goa.

The East Coast of India is home of the Digha, one of the world’s best beaches. One of the things that makes Digha so wonderful is that it is both beautiful and isolated. You’ll have to drive about three hours out of Kolkata to reach the beach.

Things to Do:

If you are travelling to India, you’ll want to make sure you visit the Taj Mahal because it’s one of the Seven Wonders of the World. You really shouldn’t miss it. Next, you’ll want to make sure to visit Madurai, one of the oldest cities in South Asia. There are many temples in Madurai, which is why the city is also known as the Temple City. If you are looking for a romantic adventure, try a camel trek in the Great Indian Desert, or you can even ride an elephant. Nothing says “I love you” like a bareback ride on an elephant in Jaipur.

India is also famous for its festivals; they have them all the time. Make sure you check the calendar before you head out, odds are you’ll be in town for a festival – no matter what time of year you visit.

Shopping:

No matter which India resort you are staying in, odds are you’ll find a shopping district nearby. India is kind of a shopper’s paradise – you can find anything there. If you are looking for clothes, no problem. Metal work? Got it. Musical instruments? Yep … got those too. The hardest part about the shopping in India is figuring out how to get all your awesome finds back home – so make sure you leave some space in your suit case (or, pack an empty one). Before you head out shopping, make sure you are ready to bargain. In India, bargaining is very important, in fact, it’s expected.

Eating and Drinking:

When you think of Indian food, odds are you think of something that is very spicy; but not all Indian food is that way. Many India restaurants serve simple breads, mild dishes and sweet desserts. Every region has their own specialties and different ways to serve meals – which is why Indian cuisine never becomes boring.

Don’t be surprised when you walk into an India restaurant and find no silverware at the table. Most Indian food is eaten with the hands. But, just because you’ll use your hands doesn’t mean you can eat like a pig. It’s not polite to have your fingers touch your mouth directly, or have food pass the first joint of your fingers. Oh, and another big one … make sure you only eat with your right hand. Most meals will be served with a flatbread, so you can use the bread to help you scoop or roll your veggies and rice in. And, don’t worry, if you order soup, they’ll give you a spoon.
